LEARNING FROM AFFLICTIONS
Psalms 119:71
"It is good for me that I have been afflicted; thy I might learn
thy statutes."
Afflictions are a difficult part of our life. That hurt, that groaning,
that wasting away, but, as the Psalmist said, there are moments of
learning. He said, "It is good for me." This precious soul
learned.
I. THEY LEARNED THE GOODNESS OF GOD:
The Lord has made us a promise that He will never leave us, nor
forsake us, and this child of God learned, that as afflictions came and
even in the hour of death He was there.
II. THEY LEARNED THE GRACE
We know about the grace of God because we experienced that when we
were saved, but the song writer describes the ultimate end of grace.
"Thru many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come;
Twas grace that brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home.
With all the suffering each day they
awoke, they experienced a new phase of God*s
grace that continued until they arrived home.
Ill. THEY LEARNED THE GLORY OF GOD:
Everyone who is saved have experienced a portion of His glory, but eye
hath not seen nor ear heard the glory this loved one experienced when they
arrived home.
