Job was a man acquainted with loss and yet this man gives us some of
the greatest truths about life and death.
"The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name
of the Lord."
I. THE GIFT:
"The Lord gave."
He gave life to this person. He gave salvation to this person. He
gave wife or husband. He gave mother or dad. He gave grandmother or
grandfather.
He gave a neighbor to someone or many.
II THE GRIEF:
"And the Lord hath taken away."
Like Job, before we can list the gift there comes the grief. God has
taken this life, and loved one, the friend and because we are human it
leaves the grief.
Ill. THE GLORY:
"Blessed be the name of the Lord."
If physical life is taken, then eternal life is just beginning. If
earthly homes are broken, then the heavenly home is inhabited.
Now we are to put in practice what we have preached, lived and
testified and that is to bless the Lord. The same One that gave is the
same One that has taken.
