THE TRUCK DRIVER
II Timothy 4:6
"For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is
at hand."
There are two words used here that have a great meaning as we think of
the passing of a loved one. "Time" and "Ready."
This brother of many years drove a huge tractor and trailer, or as we
say "an eighteen wheeler." He logged many miles in the years he
drove. I think there is somewhat of a comparison to that and his spiritual
life.
There is one thing that is common for every driver. He has a check-out
station before he leaves for the journey. The rig itself must pass the
check-out and then the driver must personally give an account.
Last, the "time" to leave came. As he came to the check-out
he could say, "I*m
ready" to go.
Three things:
I. THE RECORD:
It is called a Log Book. It has all the identification, the
destination, his departure and the expected arrival time.
II. THE RESOURCES:
He will have his travel bag, his CB radio, his coffee cup and all
necessities for the journey.
III. THE REVELATION:
The Log Book tells about many experiences on the trip and so did this
man of God. He gave many a testimony of God*s
blessings along the way. When he made his final trip and was ready to
check in, he was sure of heaven.
