Knowing Before Going
II Corinthians 5:1
"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
This verse is one of the most assuring verses of Scripture for those saints who are getting ready to leave, and for the loved ones who are left behind.
Three Things:
According to this Scripture there are three things that the Christian has knowledge of.
I. WE KNOW THE BURDENS OF OUR EARTHLY TABERNACLE:
Verse 4
"For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened."
This one has known the burden of sickness and suffering. The family knows of what their loved one has gone through.
II. We Know The Benefits Of God's Enduring Grace
Verse 6-7
"Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)"
Salvation provides for believer Grace that will take us through any battle, persecution, suffering or temptation.
III. We Know The Blessings Of Our Eternal Home-
Verse 8
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."
To be present with Him means that we will inherit that mansion that He has gone to prepare for His children.
