INTRODUCTION: In our text John is writing about "The voice
of the Son of God." "Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now
is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God.
I. THE DEAD IN SIN CAN HEAR HIS
VOICE AND LIVE: V. 25
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead
shall hear the voice of the Son of God: And they that hear shall live."
a. The Bible description of the soul that is without Christ is "dead in sin.
Ephesians 2:1 "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in
trespasses and sins."
II. THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL HEAR HIS VOICE AND RISE --Verses 28-29
"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all thai are in the
graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth: they that have done good, unto the
resurrection of life."
I Thessalonians 4:16 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with
a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in
Christ shall rise first."
The same Voice that calls us to salvation will be the same voice that will call the
dead in Christ from the grave at the coming of our Lord in the air.
III. THE DEAD IN HELL MUST HEAR HIS VOICE AND WEEP--V.29
"And they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."
One thousand and seven years after the dead in Christ hear His voice, the dead in hell
will hear His voice and come forth to be judged for their deeds and forever be cast into
lake of fire. Revelation 20:13 "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it: and
death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them and they were judged every man
according to their works." "And they that have done evil, unto the resurrection
of damnation." THE DEAD IN HELL MUST HEAR HIS VOICE AND WEEP.
